Not OP, not everyone wants to sign up plus some of us enjoy lurking and it kind of sucks to be locked out just because we don't want an account. Also it makes it easier to vilify the site as a "nasty place of hate" when no one can see what's being said. :/
It really should be members only, lurkers are like voyeurs. The members keep the site going and the lurkers just get to sit back and watch. Our members are not trained seals, we're not here to entertain you. Stop being so lazy and sign up.
Wait aren't two of the anons bad mouthing lurkers, technically lurking themselves by being anons? Some lurkers might not have anything to contribute and are just interested in the latest news on people they're fans of, nobodies asking anybody to dance a jig for them. -_-
OP here...I was just asking because I personally don't like making accounts on websites. I didn't mean to upset anyone, it was just a question. But it is obviously staying members only, so enjoy.
News flash, just because you read gg, does not mean that you actually want to contribute to the discussions. Most of the time, gg is just as big of a train wreck, than the people discussed.
I doubt this is your first time complaining about the same topic. And I wasn't specifically referring to just you. I think of y'all don't like having to make an account then don't come to the website.
As someone who has been on this site for a little over three years, no one cares about your info or who you are. You could always make a new email account with no identifying info and sign up with that. No one wants your blood type and finger prints. If you're that paranoid then you probably shouldn't be on the internet at all.
Anonymous is stronger when it remains anonymous. It's one thing to gossip about Youtubers, but another thing when you point out something they're doing that could be harmful to viewers. There are more Sam Peppers and Onisions out there than anyone wants to admit, but no one wants their name attached to a whistleblower reputation. Making gurugossip members-only might work for the administrator, but it's going to harm the Youtube community in the long run unless other gossip websites pick up the slack.
Unfortunately that's not true, as much as it should be. There are way too many unforeseen consequences as a result of whistleblowing, and people know that. That's why anonymity in a place like this should be respected, not removed. I get that they did it to try and curb the traffic, but not only did that not work, it prevents people from speaking out of fear of those consequences.
Lurkers eventually become members, not everyone is comfortable with diving into a gossip site right of bat,lol well enjoy your little exclusive club that will probably not gain new members now..
Is the site really going to be member's only now? :/ or is that just temporary?
ReplyDeletewhat's the problem with it being members only?

DeleteOh boo hoo. You take up bandwidth and contribute nothing to the discussion. Sign up or go away, lurkers.

DeleteNewsflash, no one forces you to come here. I don't understand you people who consistently complain but then want to read and be on the site.
DeleteI don't believe that one remark is "constantly" complaining. And, entertainment is entertainment.

DeleteWhy is it taking so long?
ReplyDeletewhy is WHAT taking so long?
DeleteIt's been back up for awhile. There are just some adjustments being made. 70,000 members and 100,000 lurkers need to be accommodated.
DeleteWhy am I being directed here? why isn't it working???
ReplyDeleteYeah I don't trust these mods with my info so I'm not signing up. Enjoy, members. It was nice while it lasted.

ReplyDeleteThis is the most unstable site ever! The constant issues and down time are ridiculous

ReplyDelete@11:37 If people have info about harmful youtubers they should not be afraid to out them

DeleteThe mods on this site are still being unfair and picky about what they do and don't remove, it's really annoying
